This role is part of the larger multi-disciplinary team of reporting to the Manager of Child, Youth, Family & Prevention Services, Mental Health and Addiction. The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) will provide assessment, consultation and liaison services to individuals across the lifespan, in partnership with the Acute Care setting of the Emergency Department in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, working to full scope of practice. This position provides quality, client focused, culturally appropriate Mental Health and Addiction intervention and stabilization, as well as continuity of care for patients who require support in relation to Mental Health and Addiction. Working within the RN/RPN scope of practice this role may also provide support in the form of psychosocial intervention, conduct risk assessments, and complete referrals. Clinically focused liaison and consultation to colleagues and with community service providers is also required. The RN/RPN must be able to assess and consult on substantial disorder of thought, mood, perception, orientation, or memory that impairs judgment, behavior, and capacity to recognize reality or ability to meet ordinary demands of life. The RN/RPN provides assessment of mental status, suicide risk, social and family interactions, and responses to treatment goals and care plans utilizing a strength-based, biopsychosocial, and patient-centered approach to care. Services will be provided primarily in acute care settings; however, discharge planning, community connection, and community follow up is also a component of this role. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
