We are looking for an experienced and compassionate
Part-Time Primary Care Nurse (maternity coverage,)
to support our team in providing comprehensive patient care. The ideal candidate will be responsible for triaging patients, assisting with clinical procedures, educating patients, and coordinating follow-up care. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys direct patient interaction, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and is looking to make a meaningful impact with flexible, part-time hours.
Hours ( are subject to change) Tuesday 11-7:30, Wednesday 8-7, Thursday 8-5, and potentially one Saturday 9-1 a month.
1. Patient Assessment and Triage: Nurses conduct initial assessments, document health histories, take vital signs, and assess patients' symptoms to help prioritize care.
2. Clinical Procedures: Depending on the setting, nurses may perform minor procedures like wound care, immunizations, blood draws, and administering medications. They may also assist with procedures like suture removals, and dressing changes.
3. Patient Education: Nurses play a key role in educating patients about managing chronic conditions (like diabetes, hypertension, or asthma), promoting preventive care (such as vaccination schedules), and providing post-visit care instructions. The nurse is also responsible for ordering and picking up vaccinations from the WECHU.
4. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Accurate charting is essential in family practice. Nurses document patient interactions, update medical records, and ensure compliance with health regulations.
5. Medication Management: Nurses may be involved in reconciling medications, providing medication education, and managing refills under the physician's guidance.
6. Infection Control and Safety Measures: Especially important in family practice, nurses ensure that infection control protocols are followed, maintain cleanliness in exam rooms, and help implement safety measures for patients and staff. The nurse is responsible for ordering supplies for examination rooms.
