Position Summary
:
This is an exciting opportunity to gain a broad range of exposure by working in various programs throughout the hospital. The successful incumbent will be working in different units throughout the hospital based on organizational need. The ideal candidate is resilient and flexible and thrives in an ever-changing environment. Orientation and training will be provided, and skill development is a focus in this area. This is position will be scheduled to work all shifts. The physical demands of the role may include, but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
As a member of the Healthcare Resource Team, the Registered Nurse coordinates, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
Reporting to the Manager of Patient Flow, Bed Management and Healthcare Resource Team the Registered Nurse provides personal care for patients, communicates effectively with patients, staff and families, and provides excellent customer service at all times. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living and measuring vital signs and practicing to the scope of their education. Documentation in the electronic record is required for care provided. This position works co-operatively with team members and receives direction from staff. The incumbent demonstrates professional responsibility and demonstrates actions consistent with hospital policies and procedures. This is a full-time position to work all shifts including days, nights, and evenings, as well as weekends and holidays.
Position Requirements:
BScN or equivalent
Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation Certification (or commitment to complete within 1 year of hire)
Able to demonstrate excellent assessment skills
Evidence of commitment to professional development and continuous learning
Excellent interpersonal, communication, crisis intervention, and stress management skills
Be a sensitive, mature and flexible individual who has an interest in working with palliative care patients and their families
Be able to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team with a focus on patient-centered care
Positive work record and good attendance record
Level of physical fitness appropriate for the physical demands of the position
The successful candidate must be able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that recognize the priority of Patient Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care
Preferred Requirements:
BScN
Demonstrated knowledge in the assessment and management of chest tubes, tracheostomies, epidural analgesia, BiPAP, pain pumps, central lines
Cerner Healthcare Software knowledge
Minimum of two (2) years recent, relevant clinical experience in an acute medical or surgical unit
