The Integrated Day Treatment Service is seeking a full-time, temporary Registered Nurse to provide psychiatric nursing care and psychotherapy to clients experiencing mood, anxiety, concurrent disorders, and trauma-related conditions. Working as part of an interprofessional team, the Registered Nurse will deliver client-centered care through both individual and group treatment modalities. The role includes performing the controlled act of psychotherapy, facilitating therapeutic groups using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and managing referrals and triage processes. The nurse will also support clients who are currently engaged in the service by providing individualized care and case management, with the overarching goal of supporting successful integration into the community.

In this position, the nurse will be responsible for conducting behavioural observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitoring client responses to medications and interventions, and ensuring timely documentation and communication with the care team. The successful candidate will also liaise with health care providers within and outside CAMH. There will be opportunities to supervise nursing students, collaborate with faculties of nursing, and contribute to the development of best practices and educational initiatives within the nursing field. In line with CAMH's commitment to teaching and research, the Registered Nurse will be expected to participate in program development and research activities. The position is based at the Queen Street site and aligns with CAMH's Policies and Practice Model, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and must be authorized to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy, with proof of registration required. A minimum of two to three years of post-graduate clinical experience in mental health and addictions, including direct psychotherapy, is preferred. The successful applicant should be competent in providing psychotherapy and have experience using CBT, DBT, with preference given to those with formal training and experience in DBT. Preference will be given to candidates who hold, or are currently pursuing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N) and/or Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification is also required.

Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support the development of strong nurse-client relationships and to work effectively within a diverse and collaborative interprofessional team. Strong leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in community nursing and a solid understanding of recovery principles and how they are applied in mental health care. Knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, addiction, and persistent mental illness is required. Familiarity with CAMH's systems and community mental health services, as well as experience in managing complex cases and discharge planning, will be considered assets. Computer literacy is essential. Bilingualism in French and English, or proficiency in a second language, is an additional asset.

For candidates who are not yet in independent practice and are required to practice under clinical supervision, CAMH may arrange a formal supervisory relationship within the clinical program as a condition of hire, depending on available capacity.
