St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton has the busiest Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Hamilton, with greater than 60,000 visits per department per year. In the UCC, 30% of those patients are children. Both Departments provide early access to care for patients from a widespread area extending from the Haldimand-Norfolk region to the Niagara Peninsula. They are fully staffed with physicians and nurses who are highly trained in emergency medicine and equipped to perform assessments as a result of blood tests, x-rays and other diagnostic tests. We are dedicated to providing the best care for patients at any time and committed to service in the most marginalized and needy members of our community.
Note: The successful applicant to this position will be scheduled to work in the Emergency Department at Charlton and Urgent Care at King as scheduling needs and operational demands require. Full Time Support positions will be utilized to cover maternity leaves, medical leaves and other long-term leaves. The incumbent may be assigned to cover longer term or shorter term/episodic needs within the units.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who adheres to and models the Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario; the SJHH mission, vision and values, policies and procedures; and applicable specialty standards. The RN provides patient/client-centred and evidence informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function. The RN collaborates with the inter-professional team and assumes a leadership role in the delivering a full range of care and treatment to patient/clients including those with complex needs, high acuity and less predictable outcomes.
