Your Opportunity:

The Registered Emergency Department Nurse: Plans and implements patient care services to patients/clients or groups thereof, based on functional centre and facility standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. Directly reports to the manager. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provides nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation and communication of same. Demonstrates and practices knowledge of current principles, techniques and procedures within specified guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of guidelines as set out by the licensing body and performs duties accordingly and within established scope of practice. Provides clinical assistance and direction to other members of the patient care team, as appropriate. Provides safe, quality nursing care as directed. Able to prioritize patient care according to level of acuity. Shift work as required. Requires lifting as part of patient care. Performs other duties as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Administration Certificate (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:

3-5 years nursing experience. 1-2 years relevant experience preferred in Emergency Department or other Critical Care area. Current ACLS certification. Preferred Qualifications:

Current PALS certification. Current TNCC certification. Emergency Nursing Provincial Education Program (ENPEP) completion. Additional certification and/or courses may be required. EPIC experience.
