Come join our ACH Emergency team and make a difference in the lives of Alberta children and families at Alberta Children's Hospital. Pediatric Emergency Department: Reporting to the Unit Manager, as the Registered Nurse (RN) you will work as an essential member of the Alberta Children's Hospital Emergency Department team caring for pediatric patients of varying acuity. Specific Accountabilities: The RN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. The emergency department is a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong prioritization and assessment skills. You will be accountable to the public for your own practice, responsible for ensuring that your practice meets legislative requirements and the practice standards of the College of Registered Nurses Alberta (CRNA).
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year acute care nursing experience in the last 3 years. Strong Understanding of Family Centered Care. Ability to perform full duties of an ED staff nurse in all roles as required, including ability to stand for extended periods, wear lead apron and full PPE, frequently lift 20-30 lbs. and provide care for both medical and mental health patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. 3 months level 1 Pediatric Emergency Department experience obtained in last 2 years. One year dedicated pediatric acute care experience obtained in last 3 years. One year Emergency, Urgent Care or Critical Care experience obtained in last 3 years. Trauma/ Triage/ Charge experience. Current PALS, ACLS, ENPC &/or TNCC. Current NVCI training. Connect Care downtime leader. UTD ROL modules.
