Your Opportunity:
The Northern Alberta Program (NAP) provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care in an outpatient setting to clients living with HIV. The NAP RN reports to the Unit Manager and works collaboratively with Infectious Disease Specialists, and other members of the care delivery team including outside agencies. Using the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills the RN is responsible for assessing, triaging, and coordinating patient referrals for assessment and treatment of HIV. Case management of HIV patients including health promotion, education, diagnostic review and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies. Duties in Infectious Diseases NAP clinics include: immunization, PAP smears, phlebotomy, patient teaching as well as other assesments and procedures. A medium level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of computer/ keyboard and telephone work is required. Sufficient mobility to: stand for long periods, work in noisy environment, bend, stoop, and move around rapidly throughout the shift is required. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly and participate in hands on care of patients (i.e. transfers, bariatric clients, bending, twisting, walking distances). Ability to work alone in the Infectious Diseases and NAP clinic is required.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Nursing required. Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. BCLS-HCP required with the physical ability to perform CPR on adults Recent experience (within 2 years) case management of persons with infectious disease such as Hepatitis, HIV, and sexually transmitted diseases required. 2 years current RN experience in the ambulatory setting Current Immunization certification required. Excellent communication, documentation skills and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current Experience with Connect Care, scheduling and referral coordination preferred. Current experience with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook PAP training Experience with STI testing and treatment Experience with crisis intervention is an asset Desire to work with vulnerable and marginalized populations Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations Experience working with Indigenous people LGBTQ2S familiarity Cultural competency training
