The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills to provide care to individuals, families, groups, and communities. The IBD RN ensures the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the patient/client care and education. The IBD RN assesses, coordinates, supervises, administers, and evaluates the provision of health services and healthcare resources. Through education and the interpretation of evidence-based healthcare practices and processes, the IBD RN plays a key role in support of an integrated and holistic approach to the patient/client's health care, health promotion, and health maintenance requirements. The IBD RN acts as the liaison between the inter-disciplinary team and other providers of care to support the patient/client. In this role, the RN will work closely with patient support programs to initiate advanced therapies for individuals living with IBD arranging necessary pre-treatment testing, immunizations, monitoring, and follow-up care. The RN will coordinate care with physicians' administrative assistants and nursing staff and collaborate with IBD healthcare providers across the province to ensure seamless and standardized care. A key component of this role involves educating and counseling patients on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle management, while also managing those on immunosuppressive therapies to ensure safety and adherence. The RN will be responsible for entering orders for co-signing, generating clinical notes and requisitions, completing Smartforms, developing therapy plans for co-signing, and distributing patient questionnaires using Connect Care. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
