Are you an empathetic and non-judgmental Registered Nurse (RN) with excellent interpersonal and communication skills? At the Sexually Transmitted Infections and Blood Borne Infections (STBBI) clinic, you'll face some sensitive topics like diverse sexual identities and orientation, alternative behaviors and lifestyles, sexual abuse or assault, pregnancy options, and harm reduction. Primary Care Alberta (PCA) needs someone like you to join our STBBI team to help promote public and population health and to provide health support, education and information. As the STI clinic's RN, you'll work with complex clients under minimal supervision, and collaborate with physicians, other clinics, community agencies, emergency and urgent care centers to promote the PCA STI program and services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, and counselling. You bring an advanced understanding of public health and the Public Health Act and can effectively counsel and educate clients following The Blue Book's Standards for Evaluation and Management of STI Clinic Patients. You'll also help plan, implement, and evaluate STI program initiatives, education, clinical practice and STI reduction strategies and research as needed. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years within the past five (5) years of public health experience. Minimum one (1) year within the past three (3) years' experience in an STI Clinic or Sexual Health setting. Computer proficiency with complex programs and databases, with experience documenting in electronic health records, including Microsoft Office programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Experience with First Nations Inuit Health (FNIH), Aboriginal and rural communities, outreach work and harm reduction. Experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of STBBI. Experience collecting genital specimens, including PAP smears and microscopy. Recent phlebotomy experience.
