The Stollery Children's Hospital Pediatric Cardiology program is looking for a dynamic, highly skilled, detail and quality-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Pediatric Cardiac Clinic, the incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse supporting the Cardiomyopathy and Heart Function Program is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation and evaluation of care for Heart Function patients, including inpatient, outpatient and virtual visits. Decisions are made in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The successful incumbent will liaise with local, regional and international qualitative networks and heart failure programs.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

BScN required with a minimum of five years' pediatric cardiology experience in inpatient and ambulatory care. Requires case management experience and knowledge of pediatric heart failure. Must hold a specialized clinical competence certificate (direct IV, central line, alteplase, scalp blood draws, reinfusion collection, ICE, peritoneal dialysis). Able to multitask and transition between inpatient and outpatient settings. Experience teaching pediatric heart failure, managing quality improvement projects, and participating in research required. Must demonstrate skills in program data management, guideline development, medication titration, and referral coordination. Strong assessment, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, and patient care skills essential. Self-directed, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Connect Care (including reporting). Must be able to lift/push up to 50 lbs and work for extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Requires flexibility to transition between inpatient and ambulatory programs to support surge capacity at Stollery Children's Hospital and Will be required to travel to support program outreach clinics.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience with home Milrinone Program a definite asset. Experience with project management and program development preferred. Netcare training and experience preferred.
