Your Opportunity:
This is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit caring for patients following cardiac surgery, heart, lung and heart/lung transplant surgery. The nurse as a member of the multidisciplinary team, is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) - Health Care Provider Registration (Heart & Stroke) required. Applicant must demonstrate excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational, and patient care skills. Applicant must have the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. The applicant must successfully complete the OPACCA program. Applicant must also successfully pass the CVICU Unit specific exam. Applicant must meet physical requirements of this role, including ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The applicant is responsible to maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) throughout the duration of employment.
