This unique recruitment effort at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) will recruit Registered Nurses (RNs) into our Medicine, Surgery, and Women's Health departments. The RAH is one of two Tertiary Trauma Centers in Edmonton & one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Canada. Centrally located in Edmonton's vibrant downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province's most vulnerable and marginalized populations. As a RN, you will have the opportunity to use your advanced clinical skills to perform a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. As the successful candidate, you demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, as part of the RAH Relief Team, you will provide coverage for shifts on the following RAH program areas: Medicine, Surgery, and/or Women's Health programs. This position also involves actively participating in the development and coordination of discharge planning and providing leadership to LPNs and HCAs on the nursing team and supports their RN peers. Being flexible and the ability to get along with people is important in this role. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic computer and email skills required. Must be fit with an n95 mask. Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated understanding of CoACT and collaborative care in the acute care setting is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a Medicine, Surgery, and/or Women's Health setting is ideal. Experience working on multiple units is preferred. Nursing experience working within an acute care practice setting within the last 2 years is an asset. Order Processing and Transcription experience is preferred. Charge Nurse experience is an asset.
