An exciting opportunity exists to showcase and grow your skills by joining our dynamic, Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMT) team, focused on supporting patients receiving CAR-T Therapy within the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) as Registered Nurse (RN). Using advanced competency skills, you will be responsible for coordinating/supporting the care of Northern Alberta and NWT hematology patients who will be undergoing a cellular therapy treatment. The successful RN will be a key member working with a multi-disciplinary team. The CCI provides comprehensive cancer services for Edmonton and Northern Alberta with the goal to lead in research and best practice by using innovative technologies and collaboration to optimize patient care.
Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in Hematology/Oncology experience in the past 5 years. A minimum of one year experience in CAR T-Cell Therapy or Stem Cell Transplant in the past 2 years. Attention to detail. Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder, and able to lift a minimum of 12kg. Must be able to assist with safe patient transfers and other duties related to patient care. Experience in the development and review of procedures, and process improvement. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience in standard of care and clinical trials cellular therapies. Competency and confidence using Connect Care, specifically Beacon. Experience in the development and delivery of patient and family education for cellular therapies. O-PREP Foundations or other formal hematology/oncology training completed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Patient coordination experience. Strong analytic and organizational skills. Experience with Peripheral Venous Access Devices and Central Venous Access Devices. Demonstrates a professional attitude and ability to foster strong networks. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth. Specialization certification - CONc, deSouza, etc.
