The CCI is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Symptom Control & Pain Management team. Using advanced competency skills, the RN in cancer related symptom assessment, implementation of patient care interventions such as medication administration, PVAD/CVAD care, wound care, etc. The successful candidate will have experience and an understanding that a palliative approach starts early in the illness trajectory of a progressive life-limiting illness. Is a strong advocate and ensures patient dignity by facilitating expression of needs, hopes, feelings and concerns in providing and planning palliative care. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Acute care experience and/or training within the past 2 years. (Students with preceptorship or practicum experience in acute care will be considered equivalent). Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder, and able to lift a minimum of 12kg. Must be able to assist with safe patient transfers and other duties related to patient care. International nursing candidates with acute care experience in the last 6 months will be considered. Acute care is defined as experience and/or training on an inpatient medical or surgical unit performing patient assessments, interventions, administering intravenous and oral medications, and providing patient education. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Must be competent in providing care to patients newly diagnosed through the continuum of end of life.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience caring for oncology/hematology patients. Experience in administering systemic treatment (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, cellular therapy). Experience working with elements of CoAct and collaborative care. Palliative certification and/or experience. Experience with Clinical Trials. Experience with Peripheral Venous Access Devices and Central Venous Access Devices. Wound care experience. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth.
