Your Opportunity:
The Edmonton Zone Gastroenterology Central Access & Triage (EZ GI CAT) is an initiative to streamline access for patients who need gastrointestinal specialist care. EZ GI CAT is an AHS multiphase improvement initiative between Primary Care and Edmonton Zone Gastroenterology. This is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team of nurses, doctors, and clerks to process referrals and allocate priority quickly, ensuring all patients are triaged appropriately.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:
Knowledge and skill with computer programs (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Alberta Net Care, and Connect Care). Perform effectively in an environment with interruptions and/or distractions with frequent workload changes and competing demands within established time frames. Proven leadership and organizational skills in acute care setting. Must be able to work in a high-stress environment with multiple challenges. Strong process analysis, problem solving and decision- making skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Experience in collaborating with physicians, other healthcare professionals and patients. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively liaise with various healthcare professionals by providing clear, concise, and accurate and timely information. Work independently and demonstrate excellent time management skills, demonstrate conflict management, accurately collect, and enter information in a timely manner, manage change and create innovative solutions to complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment. Advanced knowledge and experience working with gastroenterology diseases & disorders, treatment protocols and endoscopy procedures required. Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. Demonstrated strong decision making and clinical assessment skills an asset. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience developing procedures and protocols preferred. Minimum of 3 years related experience with a variety of surgical service specialties/procedures and or five years acute care nursing experience in Operative, Surgical and/or Medicine programs preferred.
