Your Opportunity:
The OHNS (Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery) Nurse Navigator plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in the ENT Clinic. This position supports patients with complex conditions involving the ears, nose, throat, head, and neck throughout their care journey-from initial consultation to surgical intervention, recovery, and ongoing follow-up. As a clinical coordinator and central point of contact, the Nurse Navigator works closely with the interdisciplinary team, including surgeons, oncologists, allied health, and community providers, to ensure timely and seamless care. Using critical thinking, clinical judgment, and strong communication skills, the OHNS Nurse Navigator conducts assessments, triages referrals, coordinates diagnostics, and facilitates individualized care planning. The Nurse Navigator advocates for patients and families, provides education, and promotes engagement in care decisions. In this role, you will demonstrate leadership in navigating complex or unpredictable situations while fostering continuity of care and optimizing health outcomes. You will work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment, exercising a high level of autonomy, initiative, and accountability.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, including recent clinical practice in surgical, oncology, or ENT-related settings. Equivalent experience may be considered. Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex patient care across disciplines and within an interdisciplinary team environment. Strong patient education, communication, and advocacy skills. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to work independently with sound clinical judgment while maintaining collaborative, team-based care. Exceptional clinical assessment, triage, and documentation skills. Advanced organizational abilities with the capacity to manage competing priorities in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical setting. Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills. Experience delivering care in outpatient or ambulatory settings. Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative working relationships with physicians, allied health, and administrative staff. Capable of providing clear, compassionate communication to patients, families, and colleagues. Demonstrates initiative, critical thinking, and adaptability in unpredictable situations. Physical ability to meet the demands of the position, including lifting > 10 lbs., transporting, and use of clinic equipment. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred. 2-3 years of recent experience in ambulatory care and clinic settings, triage roles strongly preferred. Previous experience in OHNS, acute surgery with charge experience, oncology, or head and neck surgery navigation is an asset. Familiarity with cancer care pathways, diagnostic coordination, and multidisciplinary case management. Certification in Oncology Nursing (CON(C)), Case Management, patient Navigation considered an asset.
