Your Opportunity:
Utilizing the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides care to individuals who have decided to have bariatric surgery; provide post op care to those whom have undergone a bariatric surgical procedure and are experiencing complications related to that procedure. The RN works independently to coordinate the development, implementation, ongoing administration and evaluation of patient care plan. The RN plays a key role in the support of an integrated and holistic approach to a patient's health care, health promotion and health maintenance requirements through the use of education resources and the interpretation of evidence-based healthcare practices and processes. The RN has a strong working knowledge of bariatric surgery and obesity related co-morbidities, their treatment modalities, pharmacological interventions and other procedures available at the RAH site to support weight management. The RN works closely with community partners to provide primary health care support. The RN acts as the liaison between the inter-disciplinary team and both internal and external health care professionals aligned to patient care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research and quality assurance activities. The RN adheres to the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) Code of Ethics and his/her employer's policies and procedures. The RN provides care within the full scope of practice as defined by the regulatory college. The RN is responsible and accountable for his/her nursing practice as define by the college and for ensuring his/her registration and practice permit are current and valid within his/her scope of practice.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
