The Learning and Development Clinic is hiring a Clinic Nurse that is primarily responsible for supporting clinic activities and physician needs. This role works closely with the physicians including psychiatrists, developmental pediatrician(s) and family physician(s) on the team for medication management and liaising with parents/caregivers as well as schools and community providers. The Clinic Nurse has clinical knowledge of child health; familiarity with issues in child development and learning and behaviour. The position also involves consultation and collaboration with interprofessional team members, client families, schools, stakeholders, and community partners. This position will contribute to a team of dynamic, innovative, and committed Mental Health Therapists, Social Worker, Behavioural Specialists, Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physicians, Psychiatrists and Administrative Support staff. There may be opportunity for casual Clinic Nurse shifts within our other Community Clinics in Edmonton and surrounding area. The primary task would be to provide direct support to the psychiatrists and provide case management for their clients. Responsibilities include medication management, case conference, attending appointments and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable navigating the complexities of working across different systems and working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth, and families. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Suicide Prevention Training. Training and experience in therapeutic effect/side effects of psychotropic agents and other medications. Experience on a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of normal growth and development for children/adolescents. Knowledge of DSM-V-TR diagnoses for children. Knowledge of DC 0-5 diagnoses for children. Knowledge of learning issues and classroom behavioral challenges. Knowledge of assessment tools and behavioral rating scales/checklists. Minimum three (3) years current Pediatric experience working with children and adolescents (4 - 17) with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities within the last five (5) years. Applicants must be able to work some extended hours of service as needed to support evening and weekend clinic services. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a community nursing setting. Experience in acute mental health care would be an asset. Experience supporting psychiatrists. Case Management experience. Connect Care experience. Strong communication, organizational, time management and self-initiative skills are desired.
