Your Opportunity:This Registered Nurse position is within the Pacemaker/ICD OR setting at the CK Hui Heart Center at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This role focuses on the care of cardiac device patients presenting for cardiac device implants/revisions. Duties include: peri-operative nursing care within the Pacemaker /ICD OR setting (i.e. scrub and circulation duties); completion of cardiac device assessments/programming; monitoring, evaluating, and documenting patient condition and effectiveness of medical interventions; sedation and medication administration; addressing patient concerns; and presenting clinical findings to physicians. Registered nurses in the Pacemaker/ICD OR setting work in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members including Diagnostic Imaging Technologists, Device Clinic RNs, Scrub Technologists, Industry Specialists, and Cardiologists; however, independence is a key quality of the successful applicant. Excellent communication skills are required, as well as a commitment to a team approach and ongoing learning. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line to support and maintain high quality patient care strategies in the cardiac program. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:CRNA registration and CPR - HCP level (Heart and Stroke Foundation) required and maintained throughout duration of employment. Previous experience (within last 5 years) in an acute care setting required. (Surgical suites and/or Emergency Department experience will be recognized). Demonstrated reliability essential.
