Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Critical Care team! We are looking for individuals with experience in a tertiary hospital and this is your opportunity to showcase your talents and skills that will help save lives of Albertans across the province. As the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse, you are a leader and pivotal member on our team. You act as a primary caregiver to the patient and their family in the critical care setting. You will collaborate closely with our highly skilled interdisciplinary team who are incredibly dynamic, providing professional support to one another and understand the magnitude of the work that we do. As the successful candidate, you come to our team with well-developed communication skills and a talent for building trusted relationships in interprofessional teams. In addition to your ability to remain calm during a patient\'s greatest time of need, you thrive in a busy environment and are flexible to a rapidly changing environment. This multi-unit position will include ICU and Medicine units. Edmonton, the Festival City, is located along the North Saskatchewan River and boasts almost 50 kms of trails, an entertainment scene second-to-none, a thriving arts and cultural scene, world-class shopping, professional sports teams and more! In accordance with LOU #7, this competition is to support the hiring of internationally educated nurses and will be restricted to only those applicants who meet the posting requirements and who do not currently reside or have eligibility to work in Canada.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:

Current clinical experience (within the last 12 months) as a Registered Nurse working in Critical Care. Completion of an accredited Critical Care Training program or 3 years\' experience within the last 5 years Critical Care experience. Experience within the last 3 years caring for patients with mechanical ventilation, advanced cardiac monitoring, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, emergency cardiac arrest management, countershock, inotropes, and massive transfusions. All applicants may be required to complete The Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA) training or the critical care challenge process. A willingness to learn new skills as required. Ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job. Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree in nursing. Experience in an adult ICU setting, that serves trauma, med/surg, cardiac and neuro trauma patients. Experience within the last 3 years caring for patients with transcutaneous and transvenous pacemakers, neuromuscular blocking agents, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Experience supporting a code or rapid response team. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Charge Nurse experience.
