We empower our people to be the very best they can be so they can make a difference for our patients and the communities we serve.
Halton Healthcare takes great pride in providing quality, compassionate healthcare services to our rapidly growing communities. As a progressive and vibrant healthcare organization, we are committed to being an innovative center of excellence in community hospital care.
The Registered Nurse (RN) works alongside a Halton Regional Police Service officer to respond to police-directed calls concerning individuals identified as being in crisis. The main responsibility of the crisis nurse is to deliver immediate mental health/crisis assessment, intervention, and referrals to the appropriate hospital or community resources, as required. The crisis nurse also collaborates with hospital and community resources as necessary. Additionally, the crisis nurse and Police Officer(s) engage in outreach and coordination with community partners and key stakeholders. All services are provided in alignment with the Standards of Practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and in accordance with relevant legislation.
This is a joint initiative between Halton Healthcare and the Halton Regional Police Services. This innovative program offers mobile crisis intervention within the service areas of Halton region.
