Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the manager of Inpatient Mental Health, the Registered Nurse will work closely with Psychiatrists, community services, and the Inpatient Mental Health Program. The Long Acting Injection Clinic (LAI Clinic) Registered Nurse will function as a member of the Nursing Team within scope of practice; provide/administer nursing care to patients according to policies, procedures and to the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as well as CCH practice standards.
Requirements of the job
Holds current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
(5) five years demonstrated experience in a mental health setting
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention- Advanced
Asset
Canadian Nurses Association Certification Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse
Current RNAO membership
Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French - and testing completed)

Excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop, implement, evaluate and adapt a therapeutic nursing plan (Care plan)
Ability to teach and mentor RPNs, RNs, students as required
Completes established curricula as required at the unit level
Is committed to living the Mission and Values of Cornwall Community Hospital
Considerable knowledge of clinical crisis management principles, techniques and best practices and their application to specific casework and community problems
Considerable knowledge of available government, community and private programs and resources
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and co-workers
Good computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams, Power Point, etc.
Demonstrated functional abilities with Cerner electronic health record and CRMS
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
Motivated and able to practice independently
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices within the defined population
Ability to assess for personal safety
Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
