An exciting opportunity awaits a Registered Nurse to continue developing the Family Support RN within the Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Program (CHAPS) at Alberta Children's Hospital. Pediatric Palliative Care is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements. Pediatric palliative care focuses on enhancing quality of life for the child and support for the family. This care is provided in the location the child/family presents, which includes the Rotary Flames House, acute care or in a home/community. You will utilize your palliative care expertise to provide ongoing assessment, care, education, and coordination of services to the children, youth and families. This includes evaluation and alleviation of physical, psychological, social and spiritual distress as well as collaboration with various health care providers and other agencies. Your practice will envelop the principals of family centered care and will include working within a multidisciplinary team and independently. You will support, mentor and be a resource to the community and acute care teams providing care to children and youth with progressive life-threatening conditions. As the successful candidate you will demonstrate collaboration, accountability, time management, problem solving, critical thinking and assessment skills, relational and communication skills, and a commitment to process development.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
