Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Program Manager, of NW Campus, the registered nurse triage/intake coordinator, will be working with the Northwest Community Mental Heal clinic. A Locus Level 3 clinic that offers psychiatric assessment and treatment for patients with moderate to severe mental illness. The Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) supporting intake is a crucial position at the NW Adult Addiction and Mental Health Campus. This position is responsible for the initial triaging and assignment of all clients referred to the NW clinic. They are also responsible for waitlist management, ongoing assessment and triage of those clients on our list, consultation with various multidisciplinary team members and stakeholders internal and external to our program. This role is partially intake and partially transition coordinator. This position is also responsible for some RN case management as the transition coordinator within the clinic. Please note, this position is based out of the Foothills Medical Centre. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 3-5 years' experience working within Adult Addiction and Mental Health in the Calgary Zone. A minimum of 3 years' experience in Community AMH. Previous intake and triage experience is required. Strong working knowledge and understanding of all processes within the Community Addiction and Mental Health Services Re-Design. An understanding of the addictions and mental health continuum of care. Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues from across the spectrum of our programs. Demonstrated ability to work well under tight deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency with Connect Care and other data entry systems and electronic health records. This position is also responsible for some RN case management as the transition coordinator within the clinic. Demonstrated proficiencies with IM medication administration, med reconciliation and resourcing for clients within the Calgary Zone.
