Your Opportunity:
The DBS & Movement Disorder Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care, education, & treatment for patients undergoing or being evaluated for DBS surgery. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage patients receiving DAT in both inpatient & outpatient settings. Coordinate patient selection, pre-op assessment, & post-op monitoring for DBS & DAT. Perform DBS generator programming, interpret responses, & implement care interventions. Participate in surgeries, assess patient progress, & communicate with the care team. Conduct therapy evaluations through phone & clinic follow-up, with accurate documentation. Manage post-surgical care, including device troubleshooting & patient education. Proficient with DBS systems (Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific) & collaborate with device companies on new technologies. Support outpatient & inpatient consultations & provide a telephone helpline. Detect & respond to complications. Stay current with DBS technologies through training and collaboration, using rating scales to assess movement disorders. Flexible shifts (up to 12 hours), including prolonged standing in the OR. Strong leadership skills, comfortable updating patient resources, websites, & databases, and highly tech-savvy in program management.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271. Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in acute neurology/neurosurgery nursing. 5 years of charge nurse or nurse clinician experience with strong critical thinking. Greater then 2 years of ambulatory nursing experience. Previous experience in DBS programming- skilled in patient assessment, selection, and counseling for DBS therapy. Advanced DBS programming skills. Experience in DAT's. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach & ability to make independent clinical decisions. Flexible and adaptable to workload changes based on operational needs. Proficient in Outlook, Connect Care, Netcare and Excel (for research & clinical purposes). Be able to work in a fast-paced environment & manage multiple priorities. Be able to lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs. Must be able to push & pull a stretcher & other equipment. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, sit for prolonged periods, as well as tolerate constant walking & bending. Must be able to assist patients with mobility problems, including assisting patients to sit, stand & reposition as needed. Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and enhancing service delivery. Expertise in research and evidence-based practice, contributing to clinical trials and DBS-related research. Strong ability to mentor healthcare professionals on DBS practices.
