Your Opportunity:
Make a difference in the lives of Albertans by working at the Southern Alberta Clinic as a Registered Nurse. Reporting to the leadership of the Southern Alberta HIV Clinic (SAC) you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working to provide care to the HIV positive population of Southern Alberta. The nurse has primary responsibilities for reviewing lab work, conducting health assessments, intake of new patients and follow-up for all other patients, providing education, collaborating with other AHS and non-AHS stakeholders, and immunization administration. Case management of a selected group of patients may also be required. Patients have a wide variety of psychosocial and medical complexity and require a non-judgmental approach.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Min. of 5 years clinical experience with min. of one year in community-based program. One year experience in ambulatory outpatient clinic. Recent experience managing HIV care. Min. one year patient teaching experience specifically in sexual health & safe sex practices. Experience in trauma informed care, social determinants of health, cultural sensitivity, gender diversity, Indigenous health, and addictions/mental health. Understanding of HIV stigma, non-judgemental approach Excellent patient relations skills including ability to de-escalate patients with aggressive predispositions. Experience working with patients with homicidal or suicidal ideation Experience providing care & conducting assessments by telephone/virtual & in person. Ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team Ability to work independently. Must be competent in responding to emergency situations as may be the only RN scheduled. Ability to perform physical requirements of job including standing, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, walking, lifting 10-15 lbs, sitting & working at various workstations. Excellent computer literacy with a typing speed minimum of 40 wpm. Recent experience using Connect Care (EPIC) EMR.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent immunization experience, specifically for immunocompromised adults. Flexibility in a complex & changing environment which may involve working with clients who have addictions, mental health concerns as well those that have been or are currently incarcerated.
