If so, an opportunity is available for you at Unit 84 of the Rockyview General Hospital. Unit 84 is a 24-bed General Surgery Unit that admits a variety of elective and emergent patients with surgical needs including Gynecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Orthopedic, Urology, and General Surgery. Unit 84 delivers genuine care to a wide variety of complex and diverse patients and their families, and staff are recognized regularly by patients and families for their outstanding efforts. Working to the full scope of practice, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family care on an acute surgical unit. The RN demonstrates a professional and caring approach to patients and families, according to the standards defined by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and the standards of Alberta Health Services.Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year of current acute surgical inpatient experience with complex and diverse patient populations. Prior experience with electronic health record systems (Connect Care) is an asset. Ability to uphold the physical job demands as outlined in the Job Demand Summary (AHS WHS). Preferred Qualifications:Current experience with VAC dressing, tube feeds (NG, J-tube), wound/ostomy care, drain care, and Percutaneous Nephrostomy drain removal. Current certification with CVAD maintenance and medication administration, TPN, blood glucose monitoring, PCA, PCEA, and Narcan administration. Certified in Ketamine and Lidocaine continuous infusions. Unit 84 is part of the Hemodialysis Outreach program: Experience with caring for patients post-hemodialysis.
