Your Opportunity:

These pillars guide the delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. The Cardiac Diagnostics department within SHC is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse (RN). Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the RN is responsible for assisting patients scheduled to undergo various Cardiac Diagnostic tests and procedures including: Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI), Computed Tomography Angiograms (CTA), Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Pericardiocentesis, Contrast Administration, Cardioversions, Implanted Loop Recorder Insertions, Autonomic Function Testing / TILT / HUTT. Cardiac Diagnostics is a fast-paced environment which requires high attention to detail, comprehensive assessment skills and a responsive nature to ensure the needs of patients are met. This role encompasses a large amount of patient teaching in relation to procedural expectations and post symptom management. As such, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in communicating with patients, families and members of the interdisciplinary team. Lastly, strong critical thinking skills and the ability to react quickly in stressful situations is essential. The successful candidate will understand and comply with practice standards set by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), the Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Health Information Act and other relevant legislation. The RN is guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level, and Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, and job description.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years acute Cardiology experience within the past year (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater). Current dysrhythmia certification. IV initiation, maintenance, and removal certification. IV medication administration certification. IV direct medication certification. Preferred Qualifications:

Ambulatory experience within the past year (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater). Experience with the procedural care of patients undergoing conscious sedation within the past year (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater). Cardiac Diagnostics experience within the past year (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater). Experience with patient/family centered and collaborative practice approach and philosophy. Familiarity with the following IT systems: Connect Care. APPROACH. Netcare.
