Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists to grow and strengthen your skills and work at full scope of practice as a Registered Nurse within a collaborative team at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Unit 44 is a 32-bed in-patient medical unit providing patient and family centered care supporting the acute care needs of our patients. Unit 44 General Medicine is recruiting for newly graduated Registered Nurses for an entry level position. This is a position pursuant to Transitional Graduate Nurse Recruitment Program provisions and are open to those who have or will graduate with a Baccalaureate of Nursing within 12 months prior to commencement of the TGNRP and who have not already obtained a regular full-time or regular part-time position with AHS. This program is intended for new (within the past year) nursing graduates and is not open to individuals with previous nursing experience who have completed programs such as the Bridge to Canadian Nursing Program or the nursing refresher program following an absence of five years or more or a more advanced nursing degree. The Transitional Graduate Nurse (TGN) shall work under the guidance of a clinical guide (i.e. RN, Nurse Clinician, or Clinical Educator) as a member of the health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, and families within level of competency. The TGN provides input in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury and disability or supporting a peaceful death. The TGN is accountable to the public for their own practice, which is monitored and regulated (Province of Alberta Health Professions Act). The TGN is responsible for ensuring that their practice meets legislative requirements, the practice standards of CARNA and the code of ethics.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Administration Certificate (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:

Current CARNA/CRPNA registration (including temporary permits). BCLS-HCP certification required. Graduate with a Baccalaureate of Nursing between November 2022 and November 2023 from an approved school of nursing. Not currently in a regular full-time or regular part-time position with AHS. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience on Unit 44 preferred. Experience with Connect Care preferred. Skin and wound care experience including VAC dressings preferred.
