:

The

Registered Nurse

in the Department of Medical Imaging will demonstrate responsibility and accountability for providing quality care in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, the College of Nurses (CNO), the Nursing Act and the Regulated Health Professionals Act for patients undergoing imaging procedures.


Our nursing team operates from 07:00-18:00 Monday - Friday, with standby after hours 7 days/week. Shifts in this department are 8 hours.


Job Qualifications:




EDUCATION:



Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario Baccalaureate preparation in a health-related field preferred Current BCLS essential Current ACLS essential Post Diploma Education, PACU Nursing (RN) Course, required Post Diploma Education, Patient Assessment, essential Post Diploma Education in Basic Arrhythmia's and Blocks essential Coronary Care Level 1 or equivalency required ENCP and/or PALS required

EXPERIENCE:



Recent Diagnostic Imaging nursing experience preferred Current progressive experience in acute/critical care nursing setting such as Emergency, CCU or PACU essential Two years medical/surgical/oncology nursing preferred Adult teaching experience essential Central Venous Access Device experience an asset Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area Functions independently within scope of practice

COMPETENCIES:



Competency in initiating peripheral intravenous access in all patient populations (including paediatrics, oncology and geriatrics) essential Competency in arrhythmia Interpretation essential Competency in administration of conscious sedation required Sound problem solving, communication (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision making skills Excellent organizational skills Computer literacy in current software applications Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service

Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care Ability to efficiently handle large volumes of patients Supports the mission, values, philosophy and objectives of the hospital Participates in department and hospital committees Participates in Nursing Professional Practice activities Supports a culture that encourages learning from students, staff, patients and families Creates and/or provides input into Nursing policies and procedures * Ensures supplies, equipment, space and human resources are effectively utilized
