The

Registered Nurse (RN)

in the

General Hematology Clinic

is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and all relevant legislation. This position is in the outpatient General Hematology clinic at RVH. The General Hematology clinic operates from the RVH main campus, from 0800- 1600 hrs, Monday to Friday. The General Hematology RN provides care, monitoring, treatment coordination, and education for patients with hematological issues including but not limited to thrombocytopenia, anemia, genetic disorders, pre-cancerous and coagulation disorders.


Education:





Bachelor of science in Nursing (BSc.N) required Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario required Current BCLS required Post diploma Education, Oncology Nursing (RN) Course essential Post Diploma Education, Patient Assessment essential

Experience:




Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of the RN profession Professional association membership preferred Functions independently within scope of practice Outpatient care setting experience required Malignant and/or general hematology experience an asset Adult Teaching Experience essential Palliative care nursing experience an asset Expanse/Meditech experience is an asset
