The

Cardiac Device

Registered Nurse

works within the Cardiac Device Clinic completing device interrogations, post-operative wound assessments and patient implant education, and also assists in the Pacemaker Implant Laboratory assisting with the delivery of treatment including intraoperative assessments and device interrogations during implants. Other opportunities include assisting with RVH's Transesophageal Echo (TEE) Clinic by establishing intravenous access, medication administration and monitoring of patients during transesophageal examinations as required. Other duties as required.

Education:

Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required Coronary care I & II required Critical Care certificate preferred Current BCLS required Current ACLS is required Must pass an arrhythmia quiz obtaining an 80% to move onto interview phase Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification in Cardiology is preferred

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience in a full service cardiac device lab Strong background in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography and rhythm interpretation is essential Knowledge of Cardiac Implanted Electronic Devices including testing, assessment, and programming desirable, with one year of device experience preferred Experience in an O.R. setting and sterile procedure set-up is an asset. Recent experience in the care of the Post Cardiac Device Implantation patient preferred Experience with preparation/recovery Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) procedures an asset
