Position Description

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join the SickKids Ambulatory Flex RN pool and be the lead RN in the Immunization InfoLine. The SickKids Immunization InfoLine has been developed to support families with accessible, up-to-date, and reliable information about children's vaccinations within the Division of Infectious Diseases. The InfoLine focuses on providing a judgement-free and safe space to discuss questions and concerns about children vaccines with a regulated health professional. The goal of the InfoLine is to ensure that families have access to trusted information to make an informed decision about vaccination, including COVID-19, influenza, measles and routine childhood immunizations.
In this position you will work closely with the InfoLine clinical team and the Division of Infectious Diseases to support efficient telephone appointments for individuals with questions and concerns about children's vaccines, in addition to supporting booking vaccinations for individuals who are ready to proceed with vaccination. You will have frequent contact with the Infectious Diseases team within SickKids and liaise with community healthcare providers to support children and youth across the province of Ontario. As a nurse in the InfoLine, you will be supporting the operation by providing telephone counselling and support to individuals from across the province.
In addition to your work with the InfoLine, this RN will be a member of the Ambulatory Flex RN pool supporting clinics in times of vacancy and surges.

Here's What You'll Get To Do
Provide one-on-one support to patient and/or caregivers about children's vaccines, including COVID-19, influenza, measles, and routine childhood immunizations
Develop expertise in helping patient and families build confidence in vaccines and immunization
Stay up to date on the latest children's vaccination literature, including around vaccine development, safety and effectiveness
Work in collaboration with the child/family and the interdisciplinary health care team
Work in collaboration with other Divisions / pediatric sub-specialties in supporting vaccine uptake and confidence within their patient populations.
Develop impactful educational resources for use at SickKids and across the province regarding immunizations.
Participate in program evaluation and ongoing quality improvement (QI) work.
Utilize evidence-based practice as a base in the promotion of professional accountability.
Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care
Train in a variety of ambulatory Infectious Disease areas with potential to expand in other ambulatory areas as needed.
Here's What You'll Need
Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program
3-5 year's experience working in a clinical setting, pediatric experience preferred
Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in an ambulatory setting as asset.
Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities
Prior experience in vaccine counselling and/or public health would is preferred but not require
Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objective
