Your Opportunity:
This position is suitable for an individual who has a passion for providing patient and family centered care. Elizabeth Metis Settlement is located between the city of Cold Lake and Bonnyville. Both communities offer indoor and outdoor recreational activities which are bound to keep you busy during any season. We are a populous city of over 15,000 and home to Canada's busiest fighter base - 4 Wing Air Force Base. We boast multiple busy industries including tourism, oil and gas and agriculture. Reporting to the Integrated Care Manager, Seniors Health and the Managers of Population Heath and Indigenous Health, you will be providing service to rural indigenous communities in your respective portfolio. As the Community Health Nurse, you will be working to promote and protect the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, and populations. As the Community Health Nurse, you will be using nursing processes that include assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, education, anticipatory guidance, implementation, preventative and screening measures, referrals and evaluations as appropriate. As a Community Health Nurse, you will facilitate the provision of holistic care to indigenous people and their families, promote respectful relationships with pertinent stakeholders, facilitate indigenous client (population, patient and families) centered care and build understanding and trust between indigenous people and health care system and/or processes. Travel is an integral part of this health team to rural and remote communities in the North Zone to provide services and promoting culturally appropriate care/services to indigenous people.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271. Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment. 2-5 years of RN experience in a long term care/home care/acute care/public health setting in the last 5 years. Understands and respects that individuals choose to combine Western medicine with traditional Indigenous healing practices. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including travel to rural and remote communities throughout the year. Able to speak or understand any one of the indigenous languages spoken in the communities being served. Preferred Qualifications:
You will also need experience using a RAI (Resident Assessment Instrument) tool. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks which may involve physical exertion not limited to climbing stairs, walking outside, lifting, pulling-pushing, stooping and carrying which may involve visits to client homes.
