Registered Nurse - 1.0 FTE




Location: 2445 Brunswick Street, Halifax, NS

Hourly Pay

: $40.55 - $49.99 + Benefits

Work Term:

1 year term, with the possibility of extension

Hours:

37.5 hrs/week

The Supportive Housing Nurse provides comprehensive and advanced primary health care services, emphasizing health promotion, wellness, harm reduction, health education, and disease prevention in a supportive housing setting to seniors age 50+. Reporting to the Supportive Housing Manager, the Nurse supports the mission, vision, and values of the North End Community Health Centre by delivering relationship-based, client-centered care to diverse populations.

The program supports seniors living in a 38-unit building where tenants are supported by CCA's, Social Work, OT, PT, RT, and an RN. The Nurse works collaboratively within this multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care tailored to individual and community needs.

The RN utilizes a harm reduction framework and considers the social determinants of health in assessing, planning, and implementing nursing interventions. Their work includes promoting wellness, managing chronic conditions, preventing disease, and providing education and counseling to empower clients in managing their health. Collaboration across NECHC programs and with community agencies is essential to ensure integrated care and responsiveness to changing trends and needs within the community.

Education and Experience:




Bachelor of Nursing/ BScN or equivalent Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses CPR certification, Nonviolent crisis intervention, or willingness to be trained upon employment. Community experience and knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization including trauma-informed and harm-reduction care. Experience working with senior populations and unhoused people experiencing social-justice health issues. Family Practice Nurse training and/or Community Nursing training are a strong advantage.
