Hippo Nursery School is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and responsible RECE to add to our team to lead and team teach in a preschool and toddler-aged group. The successful candidate will be a creative, and hard-working team player who demonstrates good leadership, and excellent communication skills and is ready to work in collaboration with both staff and parents.

About Hippo School
Hippo Nursery School's model of early childhood education utilizes a child-centered with an emphasis on creativity and collaboration in a play-based and inclusive learning environment. As a co-operative-style nursery school, we offer families a high level of parent participation. We have been a mainstay in the St. Clair West community for almost 75 years and as one of the early pioneers of the co-op preschool movement in Toronto, much of the philosophy that evolved at Hippo is now taught in early childhood education programs in colleges and universities.
Summary of the Position
Plans and implements, in consultation with the Supervisor, age-appropriate programs to support the children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. This shall be done per the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Hippo's philosophy and the Early Learning and Assessment Criteria for Quality Improvement (AQI).
Incorporates learning experiences designed to meet the individual needs of the children.
Provides a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment showing sensitivity to the individual needs of the children in all aspects of development.
Directs staff, students, and volunteers in implementing the program.
Abide by the College or Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
Qualifications and Other Requirements:
Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification
Able to work effectively as a team player and able to lead and inspire a team.
Experience planning and implementing an Emergent Curriculum
Understanding of legislation and standards, including the City of Toronto AQI.
Understanding Ministry of Education requirements
Experience teaching in a child care centre would be an asset; toddlers and preschool experience preferred.
Ability to be flexible, show initiative, and work independently
Ability to attend some evening meetings mostly on zoom
A passion for working with children and their families
Strong communication skills - comfortable communicating with parents and directing volunteers
A strong work ethic

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
