Overview




This position reports to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice will be primarily responsible to support outpatient Oncology and Renal. This position may have additional responsibilities of assisting with other areas as required. The successful candidate will be accountable to providing advanced nutritional management of oncology patients as well as renal patients in accordance with the principles of person and family-centred care within an ambulatory setting. The ideal candidate is interested in specializing in oncology /renal care and working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team in fast-paced, ambulatory clinical settings. They will be passionate about developing and conducting education programs for patients, physicians, nurses, and other health care team members/departments, and/or the public. The Registered Dietitian will be an expert in medical nutrition therapy, and will have specialized in the nutrition care of adult patients. The successful candidate will participate in the advancement of patient care through professional, program-based and organizational committees, quality initiatives, and interprofessional rounds. The candidate will also participate in the education of dietetic and other students as applicable.


Education




University Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or recognized equivalent required. Registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario required. Registration with the Dietitians of Canada preferred.

Qualifications




One year of independent clinical practice with oncology and renal patients preferred Proficiency in nutritional assessment and care Experience (3 years) assessing, implementing and managing nutrition care plans, including enteral nutrition and therapeutic diets required Demonstrated ability to provide collaboration and consultation with inter-professional

team and community resources.

Demonstrated knowledge in person-centred care approach and principles Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles to patient and family education Demonstrated ability to deliver education to various groups including other health professionals, students, patients/ families, colleagues and community agencies. Demonstrated abilityto prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced environment Ability to work effectively as a member of the interprofessional team Experience providing patient/family education and counselling Demonstrated initiative, innovative thinking, teamwork and ability to effectively prioritize work Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development Computer skills (Microsoft applications). Good work and attendance record required.
