Temporary Full Time assignment for approximately 12- 18 months




Sinai Health is looking for a Registered Dietitian to support our Clinical Nutrition Department at Mount Sinai Hospital. The caseload for this role will primarily support patients in: General Internal Medicine but could also include other inpatient areas.


As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the dietitian assesses nutritional status, plans, implements and evaluates evidence-based nutrition care for patients according to Mount Sinai Hospital standards of care. The clinical dietitian participates in research, facilitates self-directed learning of dietetic interns, and educates students and medical/hospital staff.




In this role you will:




Identify patients at nutrition risk and requiring intervention through nutrition screening, rounds, and referrals from in and out patient teams Prioritize caseload according to nutrition risk Assess nutritional status of patients by review and analysis of medical, social and diet history, biochemical data, anthropometrics and physical examination. Determines patient nutritional requirements, diet prescription, enteral or parenteral nutrition regimens and nutrition care goals. Develop, implement and evaluate nutrition care plans Proficient enteral and parenteral nutrition care planning Document nutrition care using MSH Goal-Oriented Standards of Care guidelines Attend patient care rounds, team and family meetings and communicates nutrition care plan to multidisciplinary team Provide coverage during absence of dietitian(s) in related specialty/program Review current scientific literature related to areas of practice and applies current research in practice Present review/analysis of literature with dietitians and multidisciplinary team through journal review, meetings and presentations Initiate/participate in practice-based research and supervise/mentor dietetic interns in research project Educate the multidisciplinary team on policies, standards, and provision of nutrition care consistent with current research Participate in the education and evaluation of dietetic interns, house staff, medical students, nurses and other allied health professionals Develop/revise standards of nutrition care for areas Participate in peer review, clinical chart audits and performance appraisals Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements

Job Requirements:




Mandatory


Baccalaureate degree from an accredited Foods and Nutrition Program or equivalent Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or equivalent Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario




Preferred


Certified Nutrition Support Clinician designation 2 years of experience in acute care Experience with in-patient adult acute care, nutrition support, patient education Experience with practice based research an asset Experience supervising dietetic interns an asset




Skills and Knowledge


Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively as member of nutrition and interprofessional teams. Ability to utilize information technology to support practice (Outlook, Word, CBORD, Infomed, PowerChart). Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance. Hours - Weekdays according to clinical caseload and scheduling with colleagues
