Deliver Clinical Dental Hygiene services to the dental clinic
Order and prepare solutions, dental materials, equipment maintenance, and supplies for use in the clinic, ensuring IPAC compliance and other miscellaneous duties related to clinical support.
Clinical chairside RDH duties and knowledge of dental treatment, informed consent, instrumentation, and mixing dental materials.
Exposing and recording digital radiographs (XCP, PAN, BW), engaging with clients to create a comfortable and friendly experience.
Perform various clerical duties, scheduling clients' next appointments, collaborating with other health providers and care within AHT, including maintenance of treatment planning, updating and reviewing records, and charting
Understanding of barriers to oral health care in the community; and ability to adapt and promote a positive safe space while engaging with clients.
Cultural awareness of the social determinants of health and provision of excellent customer service to community members to address their inquiries or concerns.
Community outreach and education, facilitate groups and distribute educational materials, which includes the preparation of articles and pamphlets for community information, follow-up, and referrals as necessary
Conduct screening and dental survey of assigned populations annually
Qualifications & Experience:
Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist by the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (Completed Diploma in Dental Hygiene)
Knowledge regarding Indigenous ways of knowing and evidence-based practice is an asset
2 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist in a dental practice
Knowledge of publicly funded Health programs is considered an asset.
Anti-Indigenous racism in Canada's Health and Dental System Cultural training is an asset
Willing to work with vulnerable populations
Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, teachings and ceremonies is an asset
Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices in a dental practice setting as outlined by Public Health Ontario
Knowledge of billings and coverage of low-income programs such as OSDCP, HSO, ODSP, OW, CDCP, and insurance claims through NIHB and dental coverage is required
Ability to work in teams with ethical and professional behavior
Possession of HARP Certificate is required
Knowledge of the iTero scanner and intraoral photography is an asset
Knowledge of ABEL Dent software, camera, and digital radiography is required
