Dr. John Strong Dentistry Professional Corporation
This position is for two or three days per week (to be chosen by the RDH) during the following hours:
Monday 9 am - 6 pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:40am - 4:30 pm
This is a contract maternity leave position expected to run for 12 months.
Our office typically has 70 minute time slots for adult hygiene appointments. Instruments are reprocessed by a separate/dedicated staff member.
Registered Dental Hygienist - and Responsibilities
Dental hygienists provide dental hygiene treatment and information related to the prevention of diseases and disorders of the teeth and mouth. Dental hygienists work as a member of the dental team to create and maintain an office environment conducive to the provision of dental care. Dental hygienists interact directly with patients to review health information, provide care, book appointments and provide education on oral health.

Registered Dental Hygienist Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Greeting, screening and seating of patients.
-Recording and updating medical history.
-Removing plaque and calculus from teeth.
-Polishing teeth.
-Taking radiographs when directed by the treating dentist.
-Educating patients on various aspects of oral health and hygiene.
-Assessing periodontal health using various techniques such as assessment of colour and consistency of tissue, periodontal probing, bleeding, and gingival recession measurements.
-Accurately recording findings and treatment in the patient record.
-Booking subsequent appointments.
-Cleaning and sterilizing dental instruments.
-Cleaning and disinfecting treatment rooms between patients.
-Preparing patient care areas.
-Assisting with patient reception, telephone calls, routine triage, and other office duties when needed.
-Participate in meetings, providing input and suggestions.
-Participate in continuing education activities as required.
-Assist in orientation of new staff.
-Work as a team and assist other staff members when you are available.
- Administer topical anaesthetics, antimicrobial, remineralization or desensitization agents.
-Complete oral cancer screenings including feeling lymph nodes under patient's chin and assessment of introral and extraoral tissues of the orofacial complex.
-Routine housekeeping duties to keep the office presentable through the day. o Follow Office Policies and Procedures on: WHMIS, Health and Safety, PHIPA, Disabilities and Accessibility, Infection Control and Prevention, and Safe, Handling of Sharps.
-Routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment (ultrasonics, Cavitrons, autoclaves, lubricating of handpieces, sharpening hand scalers and instruments)
Requirements
Graduate of an approved Dental Hygiene Program
Maintain license to practice in Ontario with the CDHO
CPR certification
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $45.00-$50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
