The EFry Health Centre is a community-based, interdisciplinary primary care clinic operated by the EFry Health Services Society. We provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally safe care to vulnerable and marginalized women and children in Surrey. Our integrated team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, allied health professionals, and dental providers.
Position Summary:
The Registered Clinical Counsellor provides mental health counselling and support services to individuals experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Working as part of our integrated care team, the counsellor will contribute to a holistic approach that fosters wellness, resilience, and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one counselling using a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered approach
Support clients with issues such as trauma, PTSD, mental health challenges, grief, and life transitions
Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team
Maintain appropriate documentation and progress notes in the shared EMR system
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other team members to coordinate care
Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings
Assist in developing and delivering group programming, as needed
Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as required
Refer clients to appropriate community resources and supports
Maintain professional standards in accordance with ethical guidelines and regulatory bodies
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
Registration (or eligibility for registration) with a professional regulatory body (e.g., BCACC, RCC, RSW, CCC)
Minimum 2 years' experience in trauma-informed counselling or working with marginalized populations
Experience working in an integrated health care or community-based setting preferred
Strong understanding of the social determinants of health, trauma, and systemic barriers
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe, anti-oppressive, and equity-based practices
Work Environment:
Clinic setting in the heart of Surrey
Collaborative, team-based care environment
Regular working hours Monday-Friday; occasional flexibility may be required
Use of electronic medical record (EMR) system for documentation
