Best Possible Self Counselling is looking for a Registered Clinical Counsellor or Psychologist with a Masters degree, to join our team and support our incoming referrals. We are looking for a professional who has a passion for supporting families (children, youth, parents, individuals and couples) to create and enhance familial connection. This person would be working to support individuals in becoming their best possible self.

Best Possible Self Counselling is a growing office that has an excellent reputation. We work closely with local paediatricians, doctors, nurse practictioners, teachers and local professionals who work and support families.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, youth and families and have a strong understanding of mental health terminology, and familiarity with case management and paediatric mental health. This includes a strong understanding of child development and an ability to provide parental support.
Duties
Conduct individual and family counselling sessions for paediatric patients, addressing emotional, behavioural, and psychological needs.
Support families by providing education on mental health issues, coping strategies, and available community resources.
Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulations and confidentiality standards.
Participate in team meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment strategies.
Stay informed about current best practices in pediatrics, mental health, and special education to enhance service delivery.
Skills
Experience working with children, youth and families.
Knowledge of childhood mental health disorders.
Knowledge of the colonization of Indigenous people and the intergenerational trauma that impacts Indigenous families today.
Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable populations.
Experience working with Indigenous children and families is preferred.
Experience with special education needs or programs is advantageous.
Effective communication skills for working with children and families.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
