Job Description


The Regional Reliability Manager is responsible for assisting assigned plants in sustaining maximum equipment availability. The scope of this role will be limited to 2-4 sites in order to provide greater support to local teams. Sites will tend to be a blend of established (performing at a high level) and those requiring significant transformation across most performance areas. Challenges will be significant, both in complexity and number. Success requires this role to act as a business partner integrated into the site management team, and not as an internal consultant. This role works closely with local management teams to: identify gaps in Asset Care capabilities and performance; develop and execute Tactical Improvement Plans; and track delivery of targeted benefits. Efforts fall into the six areas outlined below. This role reports to the Corporate Reliability Manager.

Essential Functions:

This role will work closely with local management and reliability teams to deliver or ensure the following:

Organizational Readiness:

  • Active member of Site Management Team, influencing discussions, strategy and driving actions that sustain excellent reliability performance across the site.
  • Sites are properly staffed, positions are dedicated to core duties, skills are optimized, succession plans exist
  • Reliability Governance, Council and daily routines create a culture that fully understands and drives metrics
  • Effective training is given to all levels, with majority of efforts tied directly back to metric improvements
  • Routine communications and strategic planning sessions occur to maintain focus and engagement
Work Management:
  • Ability to perform detailed Wrench Time studies and use other workforce optimization methodologies, analyze the resulting data and formulate corrective actions that impact the way functions work together. This includes the ability to explain results at all levels and ability to influence decision making of local management team.
  • Work management processes are mature and effective, resulting in maximum Schedule Compliance
  • Provide analysis to identify reactive work practices and use change management to transition to proactive
  • Planned Downtime (PDT) is optimized and leverages performance data and predictive (PdM) analysis to build scope, reduce risks and maximize impact. Role will assist in local PDT efforts, help with all preparations and be onsite to help manage tasks and support startup after turnarounds.
Reliability Strategy:
  • Maximize Critical Path protection by ensuring PM/PdM strategies meet or exceed global recommendations. This includes ability to extract data from SAP and other sources, compile information and perform complex analyses to identify proper PM/PdM strategies and related frequencies.
  • Drive local Root Cause Analysis (RCA) compliance and maximize sharing between global sites
  • Work with local and regional teams to develop and execute site CAPEX strategy.
  • Data analysis to maximize PM effectiveness and optimize settings (frequency). Proactive plans are reviewed, upgraded and standardized to maximize protection of critical path assets.
  • Conduct advanced analysis of predictive maintenance data
  • Provide standard reliability project design guidance on local projects
  • Works with BNA contracted predictive services companies to ensure adequate support is being given to plants and that service meets our global standards
Inventory Management:
  • Manage local efforts and projects required to quickly get storeroom into compliance with Global Standard
  • Implement critical spare parts analysis and immediately eliminate local gaps
  • Manage inventory stocking strategy optimization efforts and sustain
  • Maximize inventory accuracy by ensuring compliance to core processes, including daily cycle counting
  • Expedite MRP adoption and implement procurement automation
  • Implement kitting process on
90% of Planned Work * IM dashboard metrics/trends posted at storeroom window. Continuous Improvement plans tracked
  • SAP Maintenance Modules:
  • Ensure local processes maintain accuracy and completeness of SAP data. This covers master data as well as transactional data related to Notifications, Work Orders, Goods Movements and similar.
  • Monitor and manage efforts to improve equipment master data completeness
  • Measure and drive use of Bill of Materials
SAP Maintenance Modules:

Performance Optimization:
  • Work with management team to set targets and develop related tactical improvement plans. Main deliverables are to minimize Total Maintenance Downtime (Planned and Unplanned) and optimize Maintenance Costs (OPEX and CAPEX).
  • Ensure site maintains constant awareness of performance and that it is part of the management culture.
  • Ensure accurate and timely downtime reporting
  • Support local team in maximizing PM & PdM compliance and ensure 100% Coverage of critical path assets
  • Coordinate local resources for plant monitoring and analysis of all PdM (Predictive Maintenance), PM (Preventive Maintenance) data and for timely execution of corrective actions
  • Perform advanced analyses and provide guidance to optimize reliability strategies to address failure modes and increase availability
  • Manage local efforts to review asset-level performance and drive improvements that maximize equipment availability
Skill/Experience Requirements:

Competencies/Skills: * 15 years Maintenance experience; 5 years Predictive technologies experience
  • Certifications: Vibration 1&2; Infrared 1&2; Oil Analysis 1&2; and Ultrasonic 1
  • Motor circuit analysis trained
  • SMRP Certification
  • Advanced leadership skills in transforming reliability cultures and ability to turn around difficult sites
  • Proven change management skills involving difficult conditions and urgent timelines (complex business processes, people, teams and functions).
  • Advanced business acumen and ability to influence local decisions
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver significant impact in a fast-paced environment against changing priorities with limited resources
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Effective training skills. Experience developing training content is preferred.
  • Excellent administrative and analytical skills
  • Advanced skills in SAP Plant Maintenance and Material Management Modules
Knowledge: * Working knowledge of vibration data collectors and software, ultrasonic tools, IR camera, motor circuit analyzer and similar technologies
  • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance strategy development and optimization
  • Ability to lead Root Cause Failure Analysis reviews, 5-Why and other approaches
Education: * Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or related Technical discipline preferred.
