Job Synopsis


JOB MISSION STATEMENT

Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia (MCC BC) is on a mission to share God's love and compassion through global and local relief, development, and peacebuilding. The Regional Operations Manager, Social Enterprise supports this mission by strengthening MCC BC's Social Enterprise Network while advancing sustainability, innovation, and impact through strategic growth and business development. This role ensures that MCC BC's social enterprises thrive as vital community hubs that generate resources for relief and development while fostering meaningful engagement.



JOB SUMMARY

This full-time salaried position plays a pivotal role in advancing MCC BC's Social Enterprise Network by leading strategic growth initiatives, business development, and network expansion. Reporting to the Social Enterprise Director, the Social Enterprise Growth & Performance Manager leads and collaborates with the Shop Managers to ensure MCC BC's Social Enterprise strategy is executed effectively. This role leads special projects, coordinates network-wide initiatives and drives innovation and sustainability across the network.

This role participates in devotional and prayer times at MCC BC and/or at local church and faith gatherings, being prepared to answer inquiries about MCC BC's mission and values. This role contributes to a positive workplace culture based on Christian beliefs and values, while modelling nonviolent peacemaking in the workplace, in the community and the church through respectful interactions with others. This role requires adherence to MCC BC's Code of Conduct, policies, practices, and procedures, including Workplace Health and Safety. How much you work: this is a full-time salaried position, working a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Supporting special organizational initiatives may require working extended, after or holiday hours, as necessary. When you work: this position operates primarily within general office hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. This role may require extended, after or holiday hours to support special organizational initiatives, as necessary. Where you work: this position is located at MCC BC's office in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to operational needs. Physical conditions & requirements: this position will require significant computer time. Ability to focus for extended periods of time with high attention to detail and accuracy is required. Pace of work: this position works independently with high day-to-day variation, including receiving and responding to unanticipated requests from leadership and other colleagues, and is expected to manage multiple deadlines and seasons of high intensity workflow. Interactions with vulnerable populations: this position will have minimal interactions with vulnerable populations.

Demonstrated ability to lead operational initiatives and coach diverse teams Strong planning, analysis, and relationship-building skills Proven capacity to drive innovation and continuous improvement across multiple locations. Skilled in using data and financial insights to inform strategic decisions and measure performance.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & ACCREDITATIONS

5 years of relevant experience in retail, social enterprise, or nonprofit leadership. Preference given to those with 2+ years of supervisory experience and/or 2+ years of project management experience. Post-secondary studies in business management, or 3+ year experience in a supervisory, volunteer coordination or management role preferred. Ability to travel within BC and Canada and work occasional evenings/weekends. Support, promote, and develop systems that maintain a safe and healthy work environment according to MCC's Safeguarding policies.

Valid BC Driver's License along with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract Satisfactory criminal record clearance (required upon hire) Legally able to work in Canada

Key Responsibilities


NETWORK COORDINATION & EXECUTION

Drive Network-Level Performance: Develop strategies, initiatives, and support systems to enable Shop Managers to achieve operational and financial goals. Provide Actionable Recommendations: Offer interventions and guidance to support General Manager success, with evidence of improved shop performance or resolution of identified barriers. Monitor Performance Trends: Track performance across all shops and recommend interventions to support Shop Manager success. Collaborate with Shop Managers: Identify barriers and opportunities for improved shop performance, providing necessary guidance and resources. Oversee Special Projects: Manage network-wide projects, ensuring milestones are met and lessons learned are documented for future improvements. Translate Strategic Priorities: Convert MCC BC's strategic priorities into actionable plans for network growth and performance. Represent Shop Performance: Present shop performance outcomes in MCC BC leadership forums. Participate in Thrift Meetings: Engage in internal MCC Canada thrift meetings and initiatives as needed. Coordinate all aspects of Thrift marketing in conjunction with the MCC BC Advancement team, as well as MCC Canada Marketing and Communications. Act as a strong line of communication and support between Shop Managers and MCC BC Head Office.


OPERATIONAL GROWTH & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Support Growth Initiatives: Build the organization's readiness for expansion to implement growth initiatives aligned with MCC BC's strategic plans as directed by the Social Enterprise Director. Lead Feasibility Assessments: Conduct assessments for new shop locations, models, and partnerships. Develop Business Cases: Create business cases and pilot proposals for network expansion. Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with the COO, Finance, HR, and Advancement teams for shop launches and expansions. Document Lessons Learned: Record insights from past initiatives to inform future operational improvements.


SPECIAL PROJECTS & IMPLEMENTATION

Lead and Oversee Projects: Drive innovation and operational excellence by leading, co-leading, or overseeing special projects and pilots across the network. Manage Project Logistics: Oversee project logistics, data tracking, and pilot implementation, ensuring alignment with MCC BC's mission and strategic priorities.

Demonstrate MCC BC's commitment to Christian mission, values, behaviours and approaches as defined in the qualifications, in all formal and informal interactions with any stakeholder Support volunteers and colleague employees, proactively and sensitively providing direct and advice as required Participate in MCC BC orientations, provincial staff meetings, and Staff Development Day Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador for MCC's mission and values in every interaction with customers and donors, being proactive in promoting positive public, staff and volunteer relations.
