In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance/Compliance Lead MHA or designate, the Regional MHA Process Support is part of a team that is the conduit between Mental Health Act (MHA) form requirements and acute and community practice as required by the Ministry of Health and provincial legislation. This centrally organized, regional team under the MHSU Strategic Clinical Network, provides services in/to the hospital, tertiary care sites and community programs, providing confidential data entry and file reviews and coordination of services with external Rights Advisement agents. Types a variety of non-technical items such as correspondence, manuals, and reports using word processing software. Performs clerical support duties such as communicating with other departments, hospitals and external organizations. Gathers information, compiles statistics and reports, performs database entry and other related duties.

Travel will be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to high school graduation and an additional administrative course(s), and two (2) years\' recent related experience with providing confidential administrative services within a large health care organization. Knowledge of Mental Health Act preferred.

Valid BC Driver\'s License

Additional information for applicants

The Regional Mental Health Act Process Support team members provide hospital onsite support services ensuring the legislated form requirements are attended to. These positions hold specific functions to ensure patients have appropriate and timely access to the new provincial Rights Advisement service and that notifications of certification under the Mental Health Act are occurring. Team members may be assigned to cover multiple sites in a geographic area, and will work as a team to support operations across the organization.
