Job Summary



Regional Managers at Free Play for Kids are responsible for the day-to-day delivery and operations of Free to Play and Junior Wolves programs within a designated region. This role ensures smooth program execution, manages staffing and coverage, fosters positive relationships with families, and supports the technical delivery of sports programming.

The Regional Manager is a strategic leader who drives operational excellence, builds a positive team culture, and ensures all Free Play initiatives are executed effectively in alignment with the organization's mission to provide safe, accessible, and inclusive play opportunities that empower communities through play.

Education & Qualifications



Working towards or completed a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Sport and Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent Minimum of 3 years' experience working with youth, such as coaching, social work, in-school services, after-school programs, day homes, or summer camps Experience managing or leading a team Experience in customer service and maintaining positive communication Standard First Aid Certification and CPR training, or the ability to obtain quickly Valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel within Edmonton Clear up-to-date Criminal and Vulnerable Sector check Experience coaching or delivering sport and play, and familiarity with Free Play's core sports (Basketball, Hockey, Football, Soccer) is a major asset Proficiency with Amilia, Connecteam, MOJO Sports, and Google Suite is an asset

Key Responsibilities



Program Delivery & Operational Tasks



Oversee daily program execution at all the Free to Play schools in your assigned region. Oversee daily program execution of the Junior Wolves (Academy) programs in your assigned region Manage staffing and coverage: ensure coaches are in the right place at the right time. This includes working collaboratively with other Regional Managers to ensure the needs of the program are met. Maintain program enrollment and ensure that program participation is maximized. Parent/guardian communication, meetings, and follow-ups Contribute What You Can (CWYC) follow-up, reporting, and documentation Collaborate with Sport Managers to ensure technical programming is correctly delivered Collaborate with other team members to operationalize Free Play's strategic learning and development pathway Oversee the operations of programming within the region, including game days, super tournaments, field trips, and special events Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and survey data collection

Administrative Tasks



Manage regional correspondence, emails, and official communications Support families with program registration and overcome barriers to participation Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for regional programs Serve as liaison with partner locations, maintaining positive relationships with school administrative staff, students of the school, participants of the program, and key contacts Maintain organized records and documentation

Staff Management



Lead, manage, and supervise Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Academy coaches, volunteers, and practicum students Hire, train, and schedule staff; find coverage when staff are absent Ensure compliance with Free Play's Sport to Life Curriculum Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities Enact progressive discipline procedures when necessary Foster a positive, collaborative team environment

Position Conditions:



Full-time, 8 hours/day between 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday Flexibility to work afternoons and evenings is preferred Work performed primarily in a recreation centre environment; program sites may vary

Pay: $48,000.00-$54,000.00 per year
