Job Overview:


We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Regional Lead, Patient Service Centers to oversee daily operations across multiple Alpha Laboratories locations. In this role, you will coordinate staffing, support Medical Laboratory Assistants, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered laboratory services.

As the first point of contact for operational and personnel matters within your region, you will manage scheduling, performance, compliance, and staff engagement. You will also support onboarding, monitor clinical standards, and collaborate with leadership to implement regional strategies that align with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:



Business Development



Work in collaboration with Regional Manager to coordinate and oversee activities of the Medical Lab Assistants in multiple Alpha Laboratory locations to ensure compassionate, effective and efficient delivery of high-quality laboratory services for patients. Review needs for all assigned locations and replace staff absences in collaboration with the Regional Manager. Act as the first point of contact for personnel matters within the assigned region, including attendance, leave requests, time card management, and employee relations issues. Provide guidance and support to team members, addressing minor concerns and escalating significant issues to the Regional Manager. Assist in maintaining compliance with company policies and ensuring staff adherence to company standards. Support staff engagement efforts and foster a positive work environment and collaboration within the region. Organize and assign duties and tasks to team members at all assigned locations. Monitor daily performance of clinical team members at all assigned locations to ensure duties are completed accurately, efficiently and timely. Ensure requests for overtime are confirmed through the Regional Manager. Discuss issues related to performance with the Regional Manager in a timely manner. Participate in evaluating and orientation and training of new staff at all assigned locations. Identify and recommend solutions to team members for clinical concerns or office issues. Ensure high quality laboratory services for patients by reviewing and researching concerns or complaints and recommending corrective action as appropriate. Ensure the maintenance of adequate laboratory supplies at all assigned locations. Monitor laboratory equipment at all assigned locations and ensure any issues identified and occurrence are reported to the Regional Manager in a timely manner. Recommend and participate in opportunities for continuous quality improvement. Submit weekly location activity reports to Regional Manger and VP of Client Services. Support the Regional Manager in developing and implementing regional strategies, ensuring active participation and contribution from the regional team to achieve the business plan and overall strategy. Procure specimens (blood, urine, swabs) from patients for laboratory tests requested by physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, midwives and naturopathic doctors using prescribed techniques and required supplies as specified in the "Specimen Collection Manual" when providing coverage as MLA/ Phlebotomist. Ensure patient identification is verified prior to specimen collection. Ensure that all specimens collected are labelled with two unique patient identifiers. Keep accurate records of all specimens received in the laboratory by documenting the patient's name, referring physician's name, date and time of specimen procurement, tests ordered, laboratory accession number and name of person responsible for procurement of specimen. Follow the wait time monitoring procedures section SCC.15 Patient Wait Time Management. Follow test requirements for collection processing and transportation of specimens to ensure integrity of the specimens is maintained. Be familiar with the protocol for handling of STAT / Urgent specimens. Perform routine equipment maintenance. (Centrifuge, fridges, ECG machines temperature monitoring etc.) Perform other "non-technical" duties as assigned by the Regional Manger or designate may be required from time to time.

Qualifications:



Has obtained an Ontario secondary school diploma or is able to produce evidence of equivalent standing and, (a) has worked for at least two years as a technical trainee in a laboratory or laboratories; or (b) has successfully completed relevant courses which, together with the person's work experience, are equivalent to the experience At least 5 years of proven experience as Lab Technician or relevant position Valid Driver's license Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Collaborative team player with experience working cross-functionally
