SUMMARY:
Manga Hotel Group Calgary oversees three properties in downtown Calgary: The Residence Inn by Marriott Calgary Downtown/Beltline District (390 extended-stay suites with a 10,000 sq. ft. conference centre) as well as the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Calgary Downtown (a combined 320 rooms, 3000 sq. ft. of meeting space and featuring the Cannery Kitchen & Social restaurant). With a total of 710 rooms , our hotels cater to business travelers, leisure guests, long-term stays and group meetings.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the General Managers, the Regional Human Resources Manager plays a key leadership role in driving HR strategy, fostering a positive workplace culture, payroll accuracy and ensuring compliance with local and provincial labor laws. This role is responsible for leading HR functions across all three hotels, providing guidance on talent acquisition, associate relations, training and development, compensation, health and safety, and policy implementation.

Lead and execute HR strategies that align with Manga Hotel Group's goals and brand standards across all three properties.

Provide HR leadership to hotel General Managers and department heads, ensuring a consistent and cohesive approach to associate relations and talent management.

Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies, ensuring staffing levels meet business needs while fostering a high-performing team culture.

Oversee and manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including onboarding and orientation for all new hires.

Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal employment regulations, including Alberta Employment Standards, WCB, and occupational health and safety .

Guide managers through performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions while ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.

Drive associate engagement through recognition programs, team-building activities, and workplace culture initiatives.

Oversee and maintain HR policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure consistency and compliance across all properties.

Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a respectful and inclusive workplace environment.

Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in collaboration with finance and operations teams.

Lead training programs, including compliance training, leadership development, and brand-specific initiatives.

Act as the key point of contact for workplace investigations, associate grievances, and conflict resolution.

Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and personnel files.

Support various hotel committees (Health & Safety, SERVE360, etc.) through meeting attendance, event planning and task completion.

Represent HR in executive leadership meetings and support strategic planning for future workforce needs.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE:

Minimum 5+ years of HR management experience , preferably within the hospitality industry.

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

CHRP/CHRL designation (or working toward) is an asset.

Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, WCB, and occupational health and safety regulations .

Previous experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

Experience supporting multiple locations or working in a regional HR role is preferred.

Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience with payroll administration and HRIS systems (ADP experience is an asset).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) .

Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism in all HR matters.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on associate engagement.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

A proactive and solution-oriented approach to HR challenges.

Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and lift up to 10 lbs as needed.
