VP, AB & SK Operations & regional Project Managers
, you will be responsible overseeing all health and safety activities within the region, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislative requirements and company policies. This position leads, manages, mentors and allocates resources (under the direction of the VP, Health, Safety & Community).
You key responsibilities will be:
Oversee all H&S activities for the projects under their responsibilities to ensure all corporate H&S systems are implemented and tracked as required.
Assigning H&S resources (ensuring adequate "jump time" to ensure all required hazard assessments and safe work plans may be completed) , completing PAS and ensuring onboarding process is followed
Monitor compliance to OEMS Standards, SOPS, etc. and report on corporate initiatives that do not accurately reflect activities, hazards, etc.
Mentor and coach field H&S team.
To be successful in this role you must have:
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field or equivalent or, a combination of a post-secondary degree/diploma and a post graduate certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
8+ years progressive experience in an H&S role.
Completion of C.R.S.P. designation or actively working towards the designation is an asset.
Extensive knowledge and application of environmental health and safety legislation and industry standards.
Ability to review a variety of sources such as legislation on health and safety standards to become informed of the scope of employee relations cases.
Experience with ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 is an asset.
Proven leadership capabilities - capable of mentoring, coaching and developing high performing teams.
First Aid & CPR training.
Joint Health & Safety Committee member certification.
Attention to detail.
Ability to problem solve.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), planning, organization, conflict resolution and training skills.
Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
Self-starting, team player willing to work collaboratively towards achieving the strategic goals of the company.
Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
Proficient in the English language.
Working knowledge of all applicable software (MS office). Use computer applications and communications software as needed. Create spreadsheets for tracking purposes.
Working Conditions include:
Working in both an office environment and on client sites, supplier premises and other facilities.
May be required to work outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
May be required to work outside of normal work hours on occasion to meet deadlines.
May be required to work shift work on client sites including unusual shift rotations
